Any help from a university student in Dubai? I wanna know some libraries that provide university books. Specially medical ones...

Not sure about where to borrow books, but the Koukanu/Kounusabi/K-Something (sorry, forgot the name) bookstore in the Dubai Mall is the best bookstore I've found in the UAE. It's HUGE, and for me (IT-Professional) it had an amazing range of books on very specialised subjects.

It's on the main loop closest to the Fashion-Avenue or whatever (big round area with nothing but LV, Prada etc), up on the top floor.

Thanks Captain,

You mean Kinokuniya (info here). I know also borders and Magrudy's. I used to order books from Magrudy's and they had a really outstanding service.

I've never seen this Kino library and would like to give it a try. But I'm still curious for university folks experience.

BTW: Sorry for you getting redundant. Hope you'll sort it out.

Cheers for that. It's all good. It will work itself out.

Kinokuniya - That's it. I knew it started with a K. I just loved it because instead of having a 'computing' section or a 'programming' section it had a 'C++' 'Web Development' section, i.e. very specialised.

Borders are great, if the store is large enough. The one at Mall of Emirates is not big enough for my liking. Kinokuniya still seems to be the largest bookstore in UAE, please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd be happy to hear about a larger one.

For text/school books (children to university), the biggest collection is at Al Mutanabbi bookshop, opposite Burjuman, behind Regent Palace Hotel. Entrance from the aisle next to Dubai Metro project office. The place is a bit cramped & overloaded as there are huge piles of books in rather small place.

Apparently they are one of main distributors to other bookshops. I've seen many times 40" containder trucks unloading all the books.

Kinokuniya also is a good & huge bookshop, the biggest bookshop in UAE (you're right Captain) and the biggest of Kinokuniya I've ever seen comparing to their other stores in South East Asia. This rather more into general books.

University libraries here are very well stocked plus ur granted access to a fab array of online databases, my cravings for a good read are pretty much satisfied by my uni library. I go to UOWD.

The NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate will benefit national and international oil and gas companies working to international standards who are seeking to implement effective health and safety management across all areas of their operation.

PTLLS is a Premium course which is now available in dubai. It is first stage of a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) in Lifelong learning sector. PTLLS offers a comprehensive outline to the role and responsibilities of the teacher, tutor or trainer. PTLLS is a relatively new program which will replace the popular CIEH Professional Trainer Certificate (PTC)I in near future.
