When I was visiting my partner in Dubai last year, had no problems with holding hands in public, however he told me no kissing or like hugging in public as you can get in trouble for that

Yes you cannot DEEP KISS in public. I was in a bar and saw a couple asked to leave because they were "deep kissing"

On the off chance that the police stop you, just say sorry, you didn't know, it won't happen again.
Just remember that anything is illegal in Dubai if they want it to be and if you start getting defensive about it you will be arrested.

I have seen many arabs (both man and woman in traditional dresses) holding hands in Abu Dhabi, I even hug my husband in public, no problem...

of course...is there anything worse than being in a bar amongst deep kissing couples...horrendous....it's one of the things I like about Dubai...

just act sensibly and you'll be ok...and like someone else said...should you ever come across a policeman....just stay polite and apologetic and you'll be ok...
