Stay rented at Bur Dubai economical Aug 01, 2007
Hi all,

This is my first post. I am very impressed with the way the forum is run and interaction between members. Just browsing thru the forums has answered a lot of my questions for Dubai.

Yes, I am going to be a Dubai Expat soon. (yeah gettin used to the slangs!).

I have been offered 12500AED (plus 2000AED fuel) and will be moving in end of August.

So, my question is, how much should it cost for renting a room (since I am a bachelor) in Bur Dubai (yea I am planning to stay there). Is it possible to get in 2500Dhs?

How much would it cost for food (I would be eating out everyday). Is it possible to manage in 1000Dhs?

Yes on both counts easily. Don't listen to the Europeans who will answer "impossible."

One more thing...

What level of employee would get a pay package similar to mine...

Jr. Executive
Middle Executive
Sr. Executive
Manager

Is it a good deal for a Network Specialist (IT Project Executive) ??

12500AED per month
2000AED fuel per month
12500AED 13th Salary

No, I just didn't want him to get the wrong impression. People in the other post said food for Dhs 1000 a month is impossible.

For IT, there's no standard, depends on the experience, industry, skills. Some programmers earn 4000 some others 15000. But in general 12500 would be on mid level (say 5+ years exp) up to (small) project leader/manager.
Having specific skills are generally paid better. And it's the truth that nationality does matter. So sad. I feel sorry to those employers.

2000 for fuel, that'll be a whole lot of fuel you have ;) You'd spend only 200-300/month on small car. I know, maybe it means transport allowance. That'll be enough for small car (rent 1700 + fuel 300).
