One reason why Dubai is more and more expensive to live in Mar 08, 2007
In general sometimes I don't understand these people coming to Dubai, too high standards... too much expectations.... "Hey I got a job in Dubai... hey I have to get paid high because it's Dubai not because I'm high valued... hey I want to live like a king in a big mansion with 5 bedrooms even I'm single.... but no I don't have much experience... but no I'm just a fresh graduate..." etc etc.

Property owners/agents are getting happier and happier. These people make Dubai even more expensive to live in... at least one of the reasons. Just my two fils.

PS: Maybe it's in wrong forum, but I guess it's good to know also for people who are coming here.

The point what I'm trying to say is that:
Dubai residents, please don't scare newcomers.
Newcomers, please get real.

Other reasons? So many.
Inflation, under supply of low to mid level properties, high lifestyle, expensive stuffs imported from EU/US, etc etc.

And this one, I just read newspaper few days ago that one of the reasons is because AED is pegged to the USD. We all know that USD is suffering in the last couple of years since those wars (e.g. against Euro). Since a big part of UAE/Dubai imports are coming from Europe also, the exchange rate causes more and more expensive imports. They are considering to pull out of USD or at least readjust the 3.67.

Lastly, anybody else please participate to the poll I make in the other thread. Thanks.

It doesn't help either that EVERYTHING is more expensive here than it is in USA, except maybe for food. Cars, computers, branded goods...
