King's Vs Regent School

King's vs Regent School Aug 21, 2006
Just wanted to know which school has a better reputation. King's school (fairly new, from 2004 I guess) or Regent school. Both look ok, but no idea which is better.

Any thoughs and/or experiences very much appreciated, as I need to put my son down a waiting list. And they charge a lot for the privilege, so if I can avoid paying twice, great!

We are British (before you ask)so we need a school that follows the British Curriculum and we want a it to be near Emirates Hills. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I've seen a Regent School (Indian primary school?) and a Regent International School - UK curriculum, K-12, IB. Don't know if they're the same.

King school is primary only? Was supposed to be the best (British) school in Dubai when originally set up. I think they have an affiliation with one of the posh public schools in the UK.

There's a few other schools near Emirates Hills. English College, Emirates Int, Wellington Int, Dubai British School, JESS, JPS, Dubai Int Academy,

Thanks Sharewadi for your message

Not sure whether the Regent (indian school) and the British one are the same. I do know that Regent International has been in Dubai for about 14`years or something like that, but it was somewhere else and they have now a new location in the Greens that just opened. So I guess it's a more established place than King's, at least on paper.

I've been to both and their facilities are both fine. Just wanted to have an opinion for people in-the know about them, as I have no idea of their (true) reputation.

I got the impression that Regent had a more international feeling than King's, which seemed more British. No sure if I am right. Any thoughts?

Makes sense. RIS offers IB no? That's a good indication a school is more international in its outlook.

AFAIK, King School was intended to be a British school for Bratish oops I mean British kids  .

Regent does not have a very good reputation in Dubai. Also, the fees are much lower, which is reflected in the facilities and socioeconomic status of the school. Kings was set up by people that have extremely reputable schools in other parts of the world. Excellent facilities and reputation in Dubai. Between the two, I'd go for Kings without a doubt.
