Kids Visa Issue

Kids Visa issue Aug 29, 2012
Hi there.

Getting mixed signals from government regarding kids visas. Was wondering if somebody could advise.

Facts:

I am divorced from my ex wife. My kids live with her and her new partner.
My kids are on my visa - a Dubai visa.
My ex wife's visa is through Ras Al Khamah.

What I want to do:

Transfer the kids visas to my ex wife.

RAK immigration are saying that I must cancel the visas with a no objection letter so that my ex wife can then put them on her sponsorship.

Dubai immigration are saying that it must all be done from RAK.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Dubai immigration saying that, makes no sense at all. As they are on DUbai visas, to cancel them, they would have to be cancelled through Dubai immigration RAK cannot do that. UNLESS they're talking about 'transferring' the visas from you to your ex-wife. Either way, yes, you will have to write an NOC stating that you have no objection to your children going onto her visa.

I think it'll be up to you whether you cancel their visas, then give their passports and papaerwork to your ex-wife for her to then apply for their RAK visas, or whether you can do a transfer - the latter might be better if they can do it. Obviously this is a tad tricky as you don't want her new partner brought into it, that they're living out of wedlock etc.

Chocoholic ,

No probs there. They are married now. Just trying to make the transition a bit easier as my future is uncertain and it makes more sense as the kids live with their mother.

Thanks for your help.

Ah ok, sorry wasn't exactly sure what the situation was on that front. Good luck with everything.
