Does anyone know the legal procedure to file for divorce in Dubai. I was married at the Indian Consulate in Dubai last year. Do i need a lawyer ?

Based on friend's experience.
1. Go to Dubai Courts and open a case (with necessary documents) and have an appointment in Family Guidance section (a must before proceeding to court).
2. If both can't reconcile, they make a reference letter for you to register a case at the court (Registration Section).
3. They will give you a schedule for hearings.
Up to you if you want to hire a lawyer or not. They will cost you much.
