Excess Baggage Charges Jan 25, 2006
Guy's,

I'm moving to Dubai on the 15th Feb. Can anyone give me any tips or suggestions as to how i may avoid excess baggage charges on my flight over with Emirates? Should i be considering sending some items as cargo? I will be flying from Glasgow, Uk.

thanks, Renesis

It's along time since I've had to pay excess but it used to be USD$20 per kg and we were left with a few $400 plus bills. I would suggest ringing the airlines and sending it cargo or if it is a box maybe consider sea mail and send it to your office's PO Box number (realise that there is no direct postal delivery service here and your parcel will be returned to the senders address if you have an actual address on it and no PO Box number!).
Cheers! :)

Gab,

Thanks for your advice, think the cargo option is best. The excess baggage cost i have just been quoted from Emirates is £19.90 per kilo!
