Driving in Dubai Whilst Banned Nov 26, 2009
Hi Guys and Girls,

Quick question. I have a friend who was convicted of drink driving in the UK a few months back and received a 12 month ban which has been reduced to 9 months as he completed a rehabilitation course recommended by the court. He says he's planning on heading to Dubai in the next few weeks.

Firstly, will there be any immigration issues when arriving in Dubai?

Second, what is the punishment (if caught) for driving in the UAE without a driving licence? (He has a Temporary Driving Licence issued back in 2007 which expired mid-2008.)

Thanks for any help offered.

RossBaku :-D

PS Before this thread turns into a "he was stupid" war of words, we know, he knows, it was a tough lesson to learn.

As he does not have a current UAE Licence he will be required to present his UK licence, this will show the authorities that he is on a ban.
Driving without a D/L if caught and after investigation could potentially land him in jail followed by deportation.
