Does any one know if its possible to call 0800 numbers back in the UK from Dubai, i need to tie up a few loose ends back home.

As these are generally free calls within the UK, I doubt whether you can use them from here, someone else may know better though.

No, you cannot dial these from outside the UK. i too had the same problems a long time ago. In the end, i had to call international directory enquiries.

I was able to dial the toll free US numbers (1-800) from the UK by going with the following rule:

001 for the US country code

Drop the 1 from the 1-800, giving 001-800-XXXX-XXXX

So wouldn't it work if you did:

0044 for the UK country code

drop the 0 from the 0800, giving 0044-800-XXXX-XXXX

Just a thought.
