Other than for cabs (in Dubai anyway) carrying cash does not seem necessary nowadays.

I am curious; do you guys carry cash when traveling if so how much?

I read someone's advice on cash carrying and I thought it was very interesting (particularly because I follow the "rule").

I usually carry 200 - 300 dirhams, otherwise just a bundle of cards.

cards, 300-400 saftey money for emergency

I carry something like 500 even when i know that i've no plans of buying anything.. just in case of some emergency.

I carry a few hundred, sometimes bordering on a thousand. Good luck finding a place that accepts credit cards in Sharjah (besides the malls).

sharjah's backward, but not that backward. Unless of course you are trying to pay a mechanic somewhere in the depths of the industral area.
Debit cards are great, so hardly carry any cash around.

I prefer to pay for things in Cash, I recently got my first UAE credit card, but I like to feel the money leave my wallet when I buy something makes me think twice before purchasing.

That leaves me as the only person without a credit card ? I left it at home when I came to dubai...

I don't have a UAE credit card. When I refer to cards, I mean my trusty Emirates Bank Debit Card.

I carry 2 $100 bills (US Dollars) for emergency this is particularly useful if you have to get out of dodge and can't get to a bank or atm. Any one will give you a lift to the "border" with US Dollars because in an emergency the local currency (whatever that is) might be worthless.

Other than that I carry 'bout 100 dhs (taxi ride home from most places).

Cash 50/- and the rest charge to company per dime.

I carry about 400 dirhams and prefer to pay in cash rather than by card.

I'm paranoid about overspending

I carry the Gun , its easy to manage cash from different people . Its better than snatching purses from ladies .

I only got one because MEBank's debit card does not work online. Now I use the credit card simply because I did pay an annual fee for it, and I collect miniscule MePoints for fun.
