This is really interesting. How do those symbols or Chinese letters represent the word "Dubai"? How does it work? I don't get the CONCEPT of your alphabet . It looks EXTREMELY complicated.
Does one of your letters represent a "D" for example? I can't fathom how it works.
Redkite,
Yes you have a good website there.
Let us put it in a simpler way then. If you were to learn Chinese, you will go CHARACTERS--PINYIN(PRONUNCIATION/SOUND)--CHARACTERS.
Example as: 水(water)
This character is of a pictographic nature. It's antetype was
(((
)))
and later was characterized into 4 strokes, being 1.亅 2. ?(question mark) 3&4. 乀 , due to the limited Chinese imputting software, nothing for the second stroke was found. I'll try to upload a picture of handwritten 水 after I find out how.
At the same time you are learning how to write the character, you are taught to speak it, and the PINYIN(pronunciation) of this character consist of 3 parts, being 1.sh 2.ui 3.V(not the English letter V, but should be a shallower concavity marked on top of 'i' of'ui', which decides the tone of the sound of the character.
After you mastered both the character(shape) and the sound, you can tell immediately when someone is asking for a water.
