Well we haven't had any proper rain for a few years now. But it rained twice overnight and more expected in the next few days.

Typically many people don't appreciate how dangerous the roads become after rainfall. This morning Emirates road was completely blocked due to a pile up. There isn't any drainage on the roads here, so they become flooded very quickly.

Take it easy out there people.

Where did it rain, no evidence here. Just got back from UK they are implimenting hose-pipe ban through lack of rain.

Chocoholic , I remember those days! Small cars completely flooded in the roundabouts, and people not reducing speed on the highway. Dangerous!

One of my friends had a problem when his wife drove his brand new merc into a flooded tunnel at Trade Centre R/A underpass

Nooooo Sage that's awful! When it really chucks it down, and emirates road floods heading into Sharjah, you always get loads of abandoned cas where people have tried to drive though it - disaster!

What can they do if someone floods the engine like that? Completely destroyed?

I guess some could be reconditioned, but depends how bad the water damage is. Basically they sufforcate the engine, but drowning the exhaust and the water flows back up into it. If you're going to even attempt it, you have to keep moving, once you stop, it's all over.

I agree, but where was the rain today?

It;s all gone (sad). We haven't had the 'rains' for about 3 years now. I dread to think how the UAE water table is suffering.

Funny enough it rained here this morning, great it was.

I don't know how you guys survive in a country with no rain! well here we have rains very frequently these days as it is lovely spring.

Don't worry Mel I am off to Accra on Saturday and it is the Rainy Season in West Africa so no problem.
