What about Amlak's board meeting yesterday. Any news?

From what I've heard, Du Telecom is laying off all its temporary staff and contractors. Permanent staff haven't been touched yet but they're reportedly next in the firing line.

DAMAC: 150 people this week
Nakheel: 500 by the end of the week as part of a restructure

Anyone out here from either company who could confirm this bit of info?

Where did you read about Nakheel? They are doing a few at a time, they don't want it to be in the media if they do all at once.

A solemn procession of salesmen and women filed out of Damac offices on Tuesday, holding in their hands letters which told them their services had been terminated.

Many were lingering outside the Tecom branch of the real estate giant until 6pm, smoking cigarettes in shaky hands as they mulled over their sudden loss of jobs.

“We were told this afternoon that we would be made redundant,” said one former employee, who declined to give a name for fear it may impact his ability to change jobs.

“Business has been down for a long time and they mostly cut people from the sales staff.

“They promised us there wouldn’t be any major job cuts after the layoffs in October, but there have been hundreds laid off since then from all the different offices in Dubai.” Between 45 and 50 employees were laid off on Tuesday
