ok, so I have checked a number of places, from small shops to chains and cannot find a simple sink plug. I mean what the hell??? everywhere I go they tell me "sory mam, we don't have"
any suggestions?

Stop looking in branded hardware stores and mall hypermarkets. Check out some small bengali plumbing supply stores

Check out GN Classifieds for plumbing or maintenance companies. They probably have lots of them.
