The UK is shocked by the Savile-scandal. He abused children. What is more shocking IMO, is that more stories come out that many around him stayed quite and even activily helped him.

It's a strange state of affairs FD, there are more and more stories coming out every day, the latest one is that he abused his great niece. Yesterday Gary Glitter was taken in for questioning but released without charge. He will be questioned again next month, i believe.
A lot of pop stars are very worried about what went on in the 60s and 70s. They had young girls throwing themselves at them and no one asked anyone's age. Now it's all coming back to haunt them.

Some of the stories about Jimmy Savile have made my stomach churn, but I have wondered about a few of the accusers. One told of his hand lingering on her arm just a moment too long. Is this abuse? Haven't a lot of us been made to feel uncomfortable from people invading our space at sometime in our lives? I know I have but Ive never thought of it as abuse.
I hope people aren't jumping on the bandwagon and looking for some sort of payout from his estate. He isn't here to tell his side of the story.

Things were a lot different in the days of the 60s and 70s. Men got away with a lot more than they could now. Women I work with say they regularly gor their backsides slapped when they took a cup of coffee to their managers. It just wouldn't happen now, the men doing the slapping would be sacked if anyone complained of se.xual harrassment.

Child abuse is sickening. Abusers can ruin lives.

the guy is dead , so what if all this is found out now , doesnt make a difference , you could exhume the body then dissolve it in acid , and then use the acid to be a nutrient medium for fungi , so what ?

The investigation started as there was a cover up discovered at the BBC Zubber. You are right, he can't be punished but may be the abused want recognition for all they went through at his hands.

His headstone has been removed and his Knighthood will be next.

I also think validation for the victims is key, especially since there was also a cover-up.

I still think this happens still here and there, but much more covert.

Half a year ago, I remember a man in a very small Dutch vilage was charged with child abuse. It appeared most of the village people (including parents of the abused) knew about it, and did nothing.

I remember he used to do a TV program for kids. Was it from the BBC? Cant remember now. The show was called "Jim'll Fix It". He looked pretty weird to me at the time the way he would dress, with the gold chains and jewelery.

If I remember correctly, he used to work for the NHS before that? As a Hospital porter or something. Porters can be quite naughty, and get up to some strange antics, but that's a different story

He didn't work for the NHS, Zubber, he volunteered to work as a porter at hospital in Leeds, I think it was St James' Hospital. He also had a flat at Broadmoor Hospital (for the criminally insane) and was tasked at looking at how that hospital was run.

The kids that were brought to be the audience for Jim'll Fix It came from childrens homes, which meant they were vunerable. This probably meant that at that time, they were just pleased to get any attention and didn't realise they were being abused.

This makes it all the more sad to me. Poor kids.

Agreed. Not sure why he wasn't. I think his fame intimidated people.
Tonight the news is saying that he was kept away from 'Children In Need'.

I'm pleased Jim never got round to fixin it for me.
