First Test, Kingston (day four):
West Indies 392 beat England 318 & 51 by an innings and 23 runs

England collapsed to a demoralising defeat by an innings and 23 runs on day four of the first Test in Jamaica.

West Indies added 40 to their overnight score with their final three wickets to muster 392, a first innings lead of 74, Stuart Broad with a maiden five-wicket

But England capitulated to 26-7 within 20 overs either side of tea.

Andrew Flintoff took them beyond their lowest score of 45 and was the only man to reach double figures, but Jerome Taylor took 5-11 in a total of 51.

England start their second innings 74 behind - and lose Alastair Cook to a slip catch with only one run on the board

Ian Bell plays an ill-advised cut shot in the over before lunch and is caught by keeper Denesh Ramdin for four, leaving England 11-2

Shortly after lunch, Kevin Pietersen is yorked by Jerome Taylor as he tries to flick the ball to leg

The effervescent Taylor picks up his third wicket when captain Andrew Strauss feathers a catch behind to leave England 20-4

Paul Collingwood follows in Taylor's next over as a sharp delivery just clips his leg bail and Collingwood belatedly realises his innings is over

The procession of wickets continues as Matt Prior makes a duck, his stumps knocked over by a superb slower ball from Taylor

Benn joins in the fun, having Broad caught at short leg for nought - England are 26-7 and staring down the barrel of an innings defeat

Andrew Flintoff, the last recognised batsman left in, finds himself having to lead an uncharacteristic rearguard action

Sidebottom hangs around long enough to help push the score to 50 - but is then trapped lbw by Benn and not even a referral can save him

Flintoff is then bowled by Edwards for 24, leaving England on the brink of a humiliating defeat

Benn captures the final wicket, his eighth of the match, as Steve Harmison is bowled, and the celebrations can really begin

The West Indies, having been dismissed as rank outsiders, rejoice at a magnificent victory by an innings and 23 runs

The hastily arranged third Test between England and the West Indies at the Antigua Recreation Ground will start as scheduled at 1400 GMT on Sunday.

The match goes ahead after the nearby Sir Vivian Richards Stadium was deemed unfit and dangerous for play on Friday.

Despite the short notice for the pitch to be prepared, referee Alan Hurst has declared it fit for cricket.

"The surface is still not perfect but in 24 hours the ground staff have done a fantastic job," said Hurst.

"They have resolved most of the issues."

Hurst added that he had spoken to both captains and informed them of his decision: "I told them there had to be a little give and take, it (the ground) isn't perfect and we are in something of an abnormal situation."

Ground staff had worked on the surface throughout the day and work was also carried out on the facilities for the spectators.

Windies captain Chris Gayle had expressed serious reservations about playing at the venue, which has not staged a Test match since 2006.

"A lot of football is played there and the wicket has a couple of ridges so you have some uneven bounce," he said on Friday.

"We practised there but the field wasn't up to standard."

But Giles Clarke, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board, told BBC Radio 5 Live that England were prepared to play at the ARG.

The second Test was abandoned after 10 balls because of an unfit outfield.

The West Indies bowlers were struggling to keep their footing on the outfield at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium following recent rain.

Meanwhile, given the short period of time between to prepare for the Test at the ARG, the International Cricket Council has taken the decision that the new Test will take place without the umpire decision review system.
