Question about DEWA Sep 10, 2006
Hi, my friends and I are renting a room in a villa and we were flabbergasted when our landlady is asking us for a huge amount of money for DEWA without showing us the actual bill. I was just wondering, because I heard that if a Local Emarati owns the villa, DEWA should be free or with a huge discount?

Ask to see the bill, simple as that.

No bill, no money. Can't see anyone having an issue with that, unless they were trying to rip you off.

for locals, DEWA is heavily subsidized, as a general rule it is a good idea to at least view bills before paying them, good luck but it sounds like you’re getting scammed.

If I am not mistaken there is a plaque outside the villa's doorframe (black thing with white numbers) - it may be the acct # but good enough. Write the number down and go to any Dewa office and ask them to print you the bill (or for the past x months). Remember: "you lost your bill and want to know how much money you need to get from the ATM and therefore need the bill" I got one, no questions asked.
