I always loved PJ Proby when I was young. I thought he had a brilliant voice. 'Somwhere' was one of BM's favourites.

So it came as a bitter disappointment when I learned that PJ Proby had been convicted of £47,000 worth of benefit fraud! I was gutted! He's not even English! It's bad enough being ripped off by your own in your own country but by foreigners is doubly bloody annoying!

At the height of his fame, he was said to have more potential than Elvis, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
PJ Proby, the sixties rock and roll legend, had homes in Beverly Hills and Chelsea and three Rolls-Royces as well as a luxury yacht.
So as the former millionaire appeared in the dock today accused of a £47,000 benefit fraud, it seemed to be a most spectacular fall from grace.
The singer, real name James Marcus Smith, appeared at Worcester magistrates court accused of falsely claiming pension credit, housing benefit and council tax benefit.
The Texan-born 72-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, address and date

Well I found this interview, which is very funny, and he sings Somewhere as well. But I can't figure out if something crawled up his nose???

That’s pretty sad.. for a rich person like him, committing fraud over such a petty amount (in terms of his stature, wealth and age).

I actually never was crazy about his singing even though he had a great voice!! He just lacked something…I don’t know exactly what it is!!!
