Hand luggage restrictions

New security rules for hand baggage went into effect in the UAE on June 17. Passengers are restricted from carrying containers of 100 millilitres each.
Here is a list of items that passengers are allowed and not allowed to carry in their hand baggage:
Items allowed
Empty containers
Empty containers such as flasks or mugs
Cosmetics and toiletries
Sanitary towels and tampon, talcum powder, contact lens solution (100ml)
Food
Sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, other solid foods
Baby products
Empty containers such as bottles, beakers or flasks, baby milk or juice, sterilised baby water
Medicines
Essential prescribed medication, essential non-prescribed medication eg. cough syrup (100ml), insulin, medical devices
Items over 100ml not allowed
Drinks
Any drinks in cans, bottles, plastic containers, etc.
Liquid cosmetics
Fragrance and perfume, creams, liquid foundations and lip gloss, mascara, toothpaste, all products in pressurised containers eg. hairspray and shaving foam, deodorants
Food
Any liquid-based food products in packets, tubes, plastic or tin containers, for example: jams and syrups, sauces, pastes, yoghurts, soups (cartons or otherwise), stews or curry.
