New Law:You need husband consent to buy contraceptive pills Mar 27, 2009
Is this true?

"[Blank] Clinic have advised that due to a change in UAE federal law, there is now a requirement for a Doctor to have the consent of a spouse to prescribe contraception. The impact is that married staff will require a consent for to be signed by their souse and that the clinic is now unable to prescribe or dispense contraception to single/unmarried staff. The provision of contraceptive pills for the treatment of medical conditions is still allowed. As this law includes the application of severe penalties for any Doctor who do not comply with the law, the clinic will be unable to deviate from these requirements."

WTH!?!

The quoted paragraph speaks of married "staff".
I assume this is supposed to apply to the general population...

Having said that, I have not heard of anything.
Also, I think it is ridiculously stupid, if true.

Strange, you didn't need a prescription to buy the pill from a pharmacy anyway. So what was the change? That a prescription is required, or that husband has to give permission if getting contraceptive on prescription (so without a prescription, husband permission is not required)?

If this is true, yet another a.s.s.-backwards rule in the UAE.

If a husband gets upset and stops his wife from taking contraceptive pills, then she will just stop sleeping with him because then that ensures no unwanted pregnancy. So, what will he do then?
