Has anyone had experience with movers for furniture and effects?

Yup. You can use one of the big boys (Crown, Allied Pickfords) and pay a lot, or one of the small ones (Movers Packaging) and pay a sensible amount for a good service.

The cheapest way is to find one of the many 3 ton open trucks out there at the side of the road and just rent him and his mate for a few hours. You pack everything, they do the humping and it will cost you around 250Dhs. all in.

Beware the sight of all your precious goods blowing off the back of the truck at 100kmph down the Sheikh Zayed Road!
