how many of you think these paintings as art ?!

I guess it's a matter of taste, but that would never find it's way onto my walls.

1st one looks like a five year drew it. 2nd also nothing to write home about. But I'm sure the artsy fartsy types will chime in an tell me how I can see the hidden meaning in them and somehow some squiggle somewhere represents humanity and another squiggle is the artist bearing her soul etc etc.

But from Grunt point of view 1st one total crap 2nd one does not instantly burn your retinas and can be looked at but not for too long.

Th first would look OK in an art student's sketch book, not on my wall. It's scenes from Kennington Oval cricket ground (you can see the gasworks top right) from the Ashes cricket series in the UK in kind of a DC Comics' style? I don't like it, It does kind of capture the various moods of the day, but the eye is led to the central but least interesting part of the sketch, the Daily Telegraph building. Does he/she have them as a patron maybe?

The second one I hate, his over-busy style and vivid colours just aren't my thing. Reality on steroids. But at least it's more art than a pile of bricks lying on the floor of the Tate Modern.....

All just an opinion of course.

I like the more detailed ones, say of St Paul's and Battersea and a few of the London eye. The more simplistic ones, I'm not too keen on. BUt there's something nice about them.

To define art is difficult friends the definition of art differs from person to person

Yeah why not? They're quite nice paintings to hang in the living room.
