three men executed in Sharjah - does this happen in Dubai too?

No idea, before I thought that whoever is convicted and charged death penalty in Dubai is executed to some other neighboring countries.

There was an article in Viva Magazine on October's issue about women in death row. Horrible and so Tragic.

The most insane story Ive read is about a young lady charged with Death Penalty bec she was rape.

(I forgot where but Ill read again tonight and let you know tomorrow)

yes it does, but rarely mentioned in papers
I recall they excuted a policeman few years back cause he shot his uncle who was also a policeman.
Usually they do it in the middle of the desert away from people !!!

You have def got to be kiddin me Zam!!!! Did you really think they sent prisoners else where to be executed????

No joke. Dubai in particular, I was told before they will be brought to either Saudi or Kuwait

I think you will find that Death Sentences will only be carried out in Dubai, it used to be done at the Defence Area years ago, which has now become the Burj / Business Bay. They will not publicise them though and probably very few.

Death sentence for rape, that is Sharia law, which is more strictly followed in Sharjah.

In Saudi Arabia the executions are still done in public and quite common.

Here they used to publicly hang (I think the last time was in Al Ain about 5 years ago) but the firing squad behind closed doors is now the preferred method.

The crime has to be particularly brutal and rape is rightly taken as seriously as pre-meditated murder. However the case of the 6 young UAE Nationals who gang raped an Emirates stewardess earlier this year is doubtful to result in a capital punishment. It depends on who their parents are and the 'power' of the lawyer.
