does anyone know if Dubai is in the process of building an underground city (and metro- or subway), or if the project is already completed.

Underground city I didn't hear about, the Metro is certainly in progress with RTA announcing a total of 10km of above ground structure already completed. I believe that they have also complted the first crossing under the creek as well.

I think the underground city was that mad cap idea of the underwater hotel that was being planned opps JBR.

10 km of above ground structure-you`re not quite referring to the metro. By underground city I mean malls that go underground and you can move from one place to the other all underground (which is convenient in the humid summers).The company I currently work for is planning this project related to reaching users of the underground corridors in Dubai.

Word of advice. Don't eat at the DQ at the airport. Got food poisoning. It was one hell of a flight all the way back to Canada!

I heard of an underground shopping mall that is going to be next to DIFC, maybe that would be the start of the underground city..
