I attended a function in Abu Dhabi over the weekend and notice that there quite a number of streets full of lights (a "Christmas" wonderland) especially at the corniche. All displays commemorating the 39th National Day.

Dubai on the other hand had virtually no displays - certainly no public displays as there use to be along Sheik Zayed road.

I know times are tough but can't they afford the electric bill?

What's going on

They are saving up for next year.

40 years old. Does that mean the UAE will start losing hair in places it used to have it and growing hair in places it doesn't want it?

It was the same with DSF and DSS, if you didn't know they were going on, there was hardly anything advertising it.

I would say its good they are saving electricity.
Would you rather they do what they did during Atlantis launch, when Nakheel and Dubai cheerleaders were out in full force hailing the fireworks as proof that Dubai would escape the downturn ?

Did they have even DSF this year ?

What !!! Nakheel did not survive the downturn ?
