I guess some can. Probably.
Maybe.
Well, those in my building's supermarket are not!
Before Ramadan I was thinking how it would be nice if I could afford to send some money to a certain person in my family. Just little as a gift.
And I came to the idea to ask merchant if I could take food in Ramadan from their supermarket and pay after (before Eid). The owner agreed.
But I did not need anything for 10 days as I bought food at the beginning of Ramadan. Just yesterday I went to buy some fresh fruits and my total bill was 105 dirhams. I said to cashier that I will pay later and she complained. I knew then that the owner did not tell to his employees anything.
I had money in my wallet but I did not want to pay. I keep money for other supermarkets and for other stuff that I need from other places, as with our supermarket I have an agreement. I repeated again that I will pay later, hoping that their owner will tell them when they mention my bill at the end of the day.
But then somebody woke me up at 00;24 after midnight. MALE on my door at that time. Holding the bill.
I asked: "Who is that, what do you want?" Man told me in Arabic that he has my bill and wants me to pay.
First I did not know what is going on as I was sleepy, just slept two hours before or so, and I told him that I did not order anything, that he is at the wrong door.
Then he insisted I pay immediately and told me that I was in the morning in supermarket, took the food and did not pay. I told him I will come tomorrow to pay!
But he was still waiting in front of the door demanding payment. As I do not open door at that time to anyone I told him if he does not leave I will call the police.
Only then he left.
Imagine now my disappointment in the middle of Ramadan after somebody woke me up after midnight demanding their money as if I was a criminal!
And he could not come up if he did not tell security that I took food today and did not pay!
How this people made me look as some thief in the middle of Ramadan. As a dishonest person! And no way that he came on his own without owner knowing, because the owner is there all the time and he takes money at the end of the day!
Did he send man to show to the entire building how good is he, merciful in Ramadan and helping "poor", or to show to his workers why he can't give them good salaries because he is "helping poor" and have no money.
He made drama for NOTHING.
Alhamdulillah that I did not send a lot or all money away, I would be screwed...
I could not sleep again. I do not sleep during day as many do. Most people sit all night and then sleep during the day. I wake up at 4 am and then I don't sleep until after taraweeh.
I was asking myself why I am living amongst people who are not noble? Is that because they are expats? Because their experiences shaped them to be mean to others?
Then I remembered that Allah s.w.t. is the Most Noble and I accepted that He is enough for me. I am not sad anymore as the Al Kareem is there for me.
Shaytans are tied during Ramadan, but sick hearts of people are not. They still can work for Shaytan. If you decide to do a good deed many sick hearts will come on your way. Shaytan can order to sick hearts even when he is tied. His mouth is not blocked and their hearts are open to listen their devils.
May Allah s.w.t. protect us from people! People are enablers to Shaytan. Without their help he would be nothing. He is already looser, but make them think they are winners if they listen to him.
La have we la quwete ill billah!
Many people have their hidden agendas. Allah knows their niyyah. They might agree to one thing, but want to show off and present themselves as nobles.
If you ever see people who want to show in public how they are generous, how they are helpful, caring, loyal to the country, pious or whatever...know that they are the biggest cheaters ever! Their striving to be known in public as such is the biggest red flag!!
Have a good Day. As for me I am going down as soon as they open inshaallah to give them their money! Small money, big lesson!
