British undercover agent foils Underpant plot May 12, 2012
It appears that the undercover agent who foiled an Al Qaeda underwear bomb plot was British:

I can imagine a few BNP supporters spitting out their dentures at this news... ;)

sage & onion ,

The NBC article cited by the BBC says that he was a British Citizen - so I guess you don't have to be a US citizen to be a CIA agent.

However, as well as reporting that the secret agent was a British citizen, NBC News in the US also says UK intelligence agencies were "heavily involved" in his recruitment.

The BBC's Paul Adams, in Washington, says it is unorthodox for intelligence agencies to disclose details about each others' operations.

If true, the revelations about the undercover agent could raise eyebrows in UK intelligence agencies, he adds.

shafique ,

Of course, operation hearts and minds was joint covert operation led by USA and UK (with NATO support) before Iraq and Afganistan was invaded.

They used every means for phycological preparation of world citizens even if it meant to create a puppet terror orginasation which would ease their justification for the invations... How else could they gain tax payers and media's support eh?
