Bought a Guitar - What are your favourite songs? Aug 20, 2006
After having a very drunken crack at playing the guitar after 4 months at DK's party, I decided I had better buy one and get those callous back.

Anyone interested in catching up and having a jam let me know. I'm a little rusty but it's coming back.

Nice one. Accoustic or electric?

Thats one instrument I have always wanted to play. Never had the opportunity, but I do play a mean "air-guitar" to Angus Young!

Accoustic, don't want to disturb the neighbours. Plus accoustics are more fun, and ultimately very portable.

Perhaps I should have started a - What are your favourite songs to play? thread.

My fingers hurt like hell this morning too.

Nice steel string Yamaha electro-accoustic with a single cutaway.

Need to play it in, the strings are still a bit warbly.

Ian, guess you found the answer to your "hobby" thread!

Now we could have a DFM Band! With a contest (from Kareoke) for lead singer (no, not the metal) (and no, not that type of music)

Er Ian mate...I heard you at karaoke!

Can I suggest the following:

Silence is Golden - The Hollies
The Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel
Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode
Feel the Silence - The Goo Goo Dolls
Listen to the Silence - Bruce Hornsby and the Range
The whispering part of Careless Whisper - George Michael
The complete unfinished bit of the Unfinished Symphony

320 bars Silence by Stockhausen...a piece where the performer sits at a grand piano for 32 minutes and plays not one note!

Fingers are sore! We have sacked 2 vocalists so far and my poor guitar went 'twang' like Duane Eddy whilst in the middle of a thrash session! The tremolo popped off the body and its now in the shop being fixed. Luckily I have now been lent a brand spanking new Fender Strat and rehearsals are progressing!

We have our private gig on the 21st September, but after that I am up for a DF band. Anyone out there bang the skins?

I'm not talking about singing.... shesh.

No wonder the tremelo fell of your guitar and it is in the shop, you thought it was a microphone.

And you told us it was because you were going nuts on a high E and it just came loose. In reality, it was a casuality of your attempt to get to sleep

I can play quite a few songs, although I'm pretty rust as I haven't played in nearly 4 months and have lots my callouses.

I know mostly Australian material, but I will learn some 'global' songs for the crowd.

I can play Hotel California.
