I don't know how many of you guys appriciate art and theatres, but I really enjoy attending live performances such as decent concerts, and folkloric dancing shows. But I don't see we have much of them going on here in Dubai, or perhaps the media isn't exposing it properly to publicity. Most of the adverstiment would be said on radios instead of TV.

I have never attended a live play (in English language), and I just hope to have the chance to do so here in Dubai.

If someone got any info regarding up coming shows of any kind of live art (on-stage peformance), please share it with us.
& let me know which is better in ur opinion, radio or TV for advertising such events?

For all the venues in the world and all the plays in the world I watched an English company production of 12th night at the Shj cultural center.

After that it would have to be Merchant of Venice, Henry V and Romeo & Juliet.

There was a British troupe came to Dubai a few years ago and performed a load of Shakespeare plays on the green next to the Creek Golf and Yacht Club. They were excellent and the venue was perfect. A picnic, a rug and The Taming of the Shrew. The site has gone now, buried under some concrete monstrosity with a marina. Shame.

There is some amateur theatre here (VERY amateur!) and plays often put on at DUCTAC. I can find out what is on offer and will post it here.

As for art, there has been a steady improvement in the quality of art to be seen in the UAE. When the Louvre and the Guggenheim open in Abu Dhabi, I expect a flood. Have seen some good exhibitions at the Emirates Palace (Picasso was very good) and the Dubai Contemporary Arts Festival has really stepped up a gear.

As for the stuff in most of the galleries around town...you could do the world a favour by setting fire to it!
