Im looking for Honda Del Sol in dubai, i found two cars for sale, one is 1993 model, Gulf Specifications and the other is 1995 model, American specifications. the two is in good condition, which is better for future drive with less repairs, Gulf specification or American specifications? and is honda del sol is a good car for everyday drive? Plz help me to decide which one I should take. thank a lot for any info.

Go for the Local one. As 99% of american imports are shipped here are insurance write offs and repaired here. If the price is right and you can make out that the intial damage was not too devastating and repaired properly and not a patch up job. As some are written off for even small damage like a broken tail light and cracked bumper from a small fender bender ( due to expensive parts and labour ) Then go for the American one as the climate is more forgiving there and usually the interior is in much better nick than gulf cars.

But make sure to check for rust. As if it came from a snowy state which uses salts on road then you could have a rotting shell. Check the underside of the car floorboards for signs of rot. On top check for paint starting to bubble and peel off.

No matter how carefull you are, there is always some luck involved in buying a 2nd car, so you should be well aware of it. I bought a pristine car with full service history etc etc, and it died on me the next day. Similarly I sold my well cared for Jeep and few days later the rear end blew up ! so the luck of the draw is also involved.
