Related to this how do the turbos handle the heat? I had a Nissan 200SX in Australia with a SR20DET 2L turbo and it would bog down in the heat. Can't imagine they'd like Dubai much.

You will not find any Skylines or WRX's for sale that are Jap Spec, unless they have been converted to LHD, and i would not trust them. The cars that are for sale, and they are like rocking horse sh1t will be imported from USA. You can go at Awir, they sometimes have the odd WRX, but I have yet to see a Skyline for sale.

You would also have to think about maintenance. Parts are not readily available here, esp for the WRX, having said that, probs the GTR as well.

I know Scoobie does not sell the WRX here. I think one of the guys, perhaps it was XRW who was looking at trying to get one of these.

I do not think a factory fitted turbo is too much of a problem, the problem comes with bolt on turbo's. Most GCC spec cars have bigger comp and rads to allow for the heat.

Ahhh... something I've had somewhat recent dealings with.

First thing I do notice is that you want to pick up a "good bargain" so I doubt maintaining the vehicle in proper order is your main concern.

To save my fingers - don't bother going down this path unless you have the funds, patience, knowledge and skill to properly maintain either of these vehicles.

You won't do your wallet nor the vehicle justice.

Thanx for the advise!... so they wont be a jap specs for these cars. Hmm..
what about evos? I mean, how much would they sell for this one? i would still go for turbos though since factory fitted should have no problems in Dubai's weather.
I don't think fund would be a problem..

Anyway, I have to go to Awir 1st. Can you guys show me the location/ dircetion to this place please?

Thanx for the help guys!

Awir - well, I know how to drive there, but to describe it.............................

Go past Festival City (Ikea etc) heading out of Dubai ( I assume you are coming from Deira) and follow the signs for Fruit & Veg Market, damn from here, it gets really hard.

Tell ya what, give Zooter a PM, he has a brand new Dubai Road Map! hahahahahahahaha

Okay, now the fact that you are assuming because a car is factory fitted with a turbo, and available from a dealer here (ala Evo 9), that it will be perfectly fine worries me! Do a little more research prior to concluding that a forced induced car is the right car for you here with the climate and conditions.

Even with oem spec there's lots to be done in order to make reliable power as an everyday car.

If your vision is more track oriented then your problems are only skin deep - you can get away with having a Jap spec car and enjoy it to!
