Just tried to pay for a parking fine on the Dubai police website.... came to the last total page and found out they charge an additional 10AED 'knowledge fee' - any idea since when they started charging us to educate the police?!

Actually the knowledge fee is one used to pay of the upkeep of their computer and internet systems. Or so they say.

To me, its another indirect tax.

You have to pay that for parking fines, speeding tickets, or anything to do with the govt. Even when you apply for an e-gate card you have to pay it

I'm glad you paid over the Police website cause the municipality site is not linked properly and a lot of people I know have had to pay their fine twice cause it was not processed on the traffic authority's (police) database.
