Any FJ Cruiser owners? Feedback needed Aug 31, 2009
Hello!
I'm planning to buy a 4x4. Requirements are pretty simple: enough space for 2 people, room for sports equipment (surf+) and fair on- and offroad abilities.

Does it sound like FJ cruiser?

thanks in advance for sharing!

FJ is a pretty good car. Its drawbacks are:

1) Cheap looking interior
2) Bumpy ride (when compared to crossovers like CRV or Murano)
3) Blind spots due to the hughe C Pillars
4) Suicide rear doors, shouldnt be an issue if you rarely take more than 2 passengers.

Apart from that its a great car, excellent off-road ability, decent on-road, plenty of acceleration and manageable size...

Thanks BlackburnRovers! Great insight.
Although CRV and Murano don't look like "similar" cars - what would be closes analogy in terms of look and feel 4x4? (don't want a boring car :) the only car I can think as look a like - Jeep Wrangler. understand that it's not the same inside at all, but I'm looking for something in this non-practic nostalgy mood :))

FJ cruisers are basically Prado LWB's with a diffrent body shells. But both are very capable offroaders, but a SWB V6 prado beats it hand down although it looks like a conventional boring SUV.

Your also right as CRV's and Murano are no way in the same bracket by a mile. These are soft roader SUV's and really not meant to do any proper offroading.

Aviod the eairlier models as they had issues with the fender suppourts to buckle and come apart with offroad use. And Al futtaim refuse to repair these underwarranty as they were used offroad ?!?!

Fuel tank is small so range is limitedm also visibilty issues as said before.

But out of the box very capable offroader and does what is says on the tin

Also on a ending note they have become very common and really falling fast into the boring car category.

Have you looked into a SWB Nissan Patrol or FJ71

Thanks, desertdudeshj!
Right after I solve driver lisence puzzle :) - I'll definitely look on these options.
P.S. More and more looking at Jeep (Wrangler or something similar). driven not from logic side, but from I like how it looks :)

Agree with desertdudeshj's comments, also the doors can get jammed due to the lack of B pillar after a knock, which if you do go off road then it will happen sooer or later.

Wranglers have the same fuel limitation as the FJ
