Dubai: A new telephone concierge service called Just-a-Dial is set to launch in the UAE.
The service, which cost Dh17.8 million and took 18 months to develop, will connect UAE companies with residents, businesses and tourists in need of information and services.
Companies will be able to list anything from, cinema listings to promotions and and events, on Just-a-Dial
The average cost of companies registering with Just-a-Dial is Dh3,500 a year, with callers paying a minimum service provider charge.
Mark Walker, director of business development at IDC Middle East and Africa, said the new service appears to be a first for the Middle East.
However he acknowledged Just-a-Dial would have to face off against the growing use of third-generation mobile phones that can access web search engines for free.
John Joseph, Just-a-Dial managing director, said the service fills a much-needed gap in delivering information that is convenient and productive to callers and also adds value to the lifestyles of residents and visitors alike.
It also provides a direct channel to the Emirates' business community, he added.
