One of the big things in the US is the added security with the use of technology. Now a parent can sit at home or work and pull up a webbrowser and see right into their childs daycare class, and maybe even see their child. This is a major added peice of mind to any parent. The technology is so far advanced that it isnt that costly to do this and parents seem to love it.

I do allot of work for churches in usa, and security has doubled in the past 2 years. My guess is that criminals are not feeling a moral obligation to leave churches and schools alone. So the crime rate is increasing for the so called (soft targets). Schools and churches (and daycares) have fallen behind in loss control and security protocol, so now they are playing catch up.
