Hi starting work on the 1st of March but noplace to stay.Could somebody let me know what the rates are of a decent 2-3 star in Bur Dubai for a week

Try Sun City hotel in Bur Dubai.

also. u can try Desert Rose.. its very central.. close to the banks.. supermarkets.. and bur dubai.. which is heart of dubai city

Desert Rose serviced apartments r quite posh ... n their rates r qutie reasonable too
