Apartheid was legal in South African law, and therefore it is most appropriate that you use the same argument for illegal activities in East Jerusalem. Of course the criminals always say they are innocent - prison is full of 'innocent' people.

Nice to see that you side with the criminals and not the UN - on the illegality of bulldozing homes in an illegally annexed territory. Don't let international law get in the way of Israeli spin, will you. ;)

Kudos though - I didn't think it would be possible to spin the illegality of Israel's actions - but I forgot you could resort to the 'the oppressor sets the laws and decides what is legal' argument.

You're the one to harp on legality blah blah blah in Israel.

It's interesting when I point out that this ruling, that was approved by a city council and went through all the rigors that said types of rulings go through everywhere else in the world, no longer is important.

Yawn.

Do you go on special loon training camps to learn how to ignore facts?

UN chief says Israeli plan for east Jerusalem is illegal
06.23.2010 | AFP

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) – UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday voiced concern that an Israeli plan to raze 22 Arab homes to make way for an archaeological park in annexed east Jerusalem is “unhelpful” and against international law.

..

“The planned moves are contrary to international law, and to the wishes of Palestinian residents,” the statement said.

It is also worth repeating Avi Shlaim's assessment that Israel is a rogue state for (amongst other things) habitually breaking international law:

This brief review of Israel's record over the past four decades makes it difficult to resist the conclusion that it has become a rogue state with "an utterly unscrupulous set of leaders". A rogue state habitually violates international law, possesses weapons of mass destruction and practises terrorism - the use of violence against civilians for political purposes. Israel fulfils all of these three criteria; the cap fits and it must wear it. Israel's real aim is not peaceful coexistence with its Palestinian neighbours but military domination. It keeps compounding the mistakes of the past with new and more disastrous ones. Politicians, like everyone else, are of course free to repeat the lies and mistakes of the past. But it is not mandatory to do so.

Still in denial, I see. (Actually, we shouldn't be surprised as this is a standard response to facts of Israel's crimes by those who repeat their spin).

Now, the EU spells out to the Israelis:

It is illegal to raze the homes of residents of East Jerusalem:

EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton says 'settlements and demolitions of homes are illegal under international law.'
..
Ashton added that the European Union has never recognized Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem, saying that "if there is to be genuine peace, a way must be found through negotiations to resolve the status of Jerusalem as the future capital of two states."

I would have thought this too would be unspinnable - in the real world that is - in fanboi-world, they play by different rules. ;)

Let me know the next time China demolishes a few illegally built homes in Tibet - I would like to read pronouncements from the UN on China's 'illegal' actions.

Yawn.

Excellent defence:

"Sorry your honour, the authorities have shown that my plan to demolish homes in East Jerusalem is illegal - but, your honour, look over there - see over the other part of the world, there's another country that is also illegally demolishing houses..."

You've lost it fanboi.

Let me know when a Chinese fanboi turns up and argues that they know more about international law than the UN.
