Well I've been looking around and I can get a 2006 Mustang Coupe for between 85,000 - 90,000. I'd want to trade in my Pajero though.

Be careful. Some are actually grey-import V6 models.

OK, so I'm considering changing my 4x4 for something a little sexier. I have 3 cars in mind but can't ecide what to get, so input please. 1. Ford Mustang - Always wanted one. 2. Dodge Charger - Beast of a car with some guts. 3. Chevy Camaro - Not available here yet, but hopefully soon. I'm kinda edging towards the Mustang at the moment.

The 3 your options are good ... especially for man, imho, ... but I do not know you at all ...
What do you think about Nissan 350Z, Alfa Romeos and Mercedeses?
gtmash
The Camaro is coming after a longggg time. The other choices, be sure to thoroughly test them. Visibility is very tight, especially harder if you are used to a 4x4.

are you thinking new or old for the mustang? I'm not a big fan of the new, but there have been tons of nice classic examples on places like Souq.com. This one is quite nice, although not the most practical. http://www.souq.com/item.php?id=2288632

Not practical at all. Expensive, breakdowns due to age, shortage of parts in UAE, uncomfortable and slow on top of all that. Only for the serious collector.

I like the Coupe version of the new Mustang, the convertable version not so much. No I'm a girl, who happens to like cars.

Why? I'm just a bit of a girl racer at heart. I'm thinking a white Mustang Coupe with hot pink stripes over the roof and round the bottom of the body kit, with a few neons underneath, kicking sound system - hell ya. I'll give those boys a run for it. Plus I couldn't even afford to runa car like that in the UK, so why the hell not?

Speed kills.
Chocoholic
Racer on the track! I'm certainly not a speed demon on the main highways. But having a car with decent acceleration is useful to get you out of a sticky situation if necessary. It's all about knowing your car, knowing its capabilities, listening to the engine and knowing how to handle it. My driving instructor always tol me that I was very instictive and in-tune with whatever vehicle I was driving, and that's the key, you should be able to get into anything and get the best out of it.

What is your budget, girl, who happens to like cars (c)? By the way, I like your choice. :thumbleft:

i say go for the mustang, charger doesnt last as long with all the problems
Empi
Choco, may be you need a "street race" car? :? Believe you could buy a "body-car" and pimp it as you want at Al Awin ... You could make it 100% special - the only in UAE ...

what about the environmental footprint ?
Doesnt that bother you :?:
fayz
Well in her defense, if she is trading in an older mits paj for a new mustang, the carbon footprint of the mustang is likely less.
Plus there are some cool things with the '08 like soy seats .
if you want to call her a hypocrite, then you can tease her about promoting Live Earth :P :P  :P :P
bonk
I'd go for the new charger, just because it looks seriously mean.

Yeah I know, the new ones are V8 engines with 4.6 litres and 300 BHP.
But to be honest a V6 is enough. There's not a great deal of difference in the HP and performance of the V6 and V8 engines, but obviously the V8 is heavier in the car.
The V6 version is the economy 'Stang, but cheaper to insure. It'sstill quick, the finish is nice and very much like the classic Mustang's of the 60's. But it still runs, sound like a muscle car.
Hmm I research well.

There is a huge improvement in 300 hp V8 performance over the 210 hp V6, for only a mild loss in fuel economy. And the V8 only weighs 90 kg more than the V6. Plus the V6 here is not GCC-spec.
Chocoholic
The V6 I've seen is to GCC spec. Anyway taking it for a test drive later. You don't need a V8 here. V6 is enough, afterall I'm still a girl ;-)

If you choose to believe the used car salesman over the guy who has direct contact with Ford HQ (namely me), then I guess you found a GCC spec V6.
Chocoholic
Yeah but lets face it GCC spec really isn't upto much anyway is it. My main question will be, that if there's an engine problem, how easy are parts to come across for the import car and warranty coverage. And what would you recommend in that case?
cheap_Deal
many of the imported (both USA and Japan) cars i have seen here have been in some sort of accident or another. jack the car up and you can sometimes even see poorly welded joints. if i was buying a used car it would be GCC spec with low kms and full service history.
Chocoholic
The thing is only a year old, with 25,000 Kms on the clock, so it's only going to have 2 or so services under it's belt. 1 female American owner. Oh don't worry I check everything, if I buy a car and they say they'll service it, I dip the oil and what not before I take it out the showroom, if it doesn't come out clean I'm not taking it. I might be a girl, but I drive a hard bargin and get value for money. Plus I work in the media, so it's real easy to get people back if they gave you a crappy deal. Mess with me? I think not!
scarlet
ooh choco I would recommend the Volkswagon Eos, it has the power but also the style Or what about a corvette?
dale
It is a big problem when you migrate from a 4x4 to a small car. Later you feel as if you driving some toy and regret. Particularly in Dubai you can get your way round if you drive a big 4x4 :P If you want comfort and style go for a Range Want that kicking power go for a X5 like moi ;) Girly Escalade is also an option. If nothing else turns you on then one of the many variants of Cayenne may have something for you. 500bhp and rides like a beauty in the desert.... Dont be cruel to yourself, go for a 4x4 !!!!
