Cheers guys. I really like the new Pajero and I think they have an offer on now its Ramadan so I think I'll go for a test drive. The base model is only AED 88,000!! What you do you think to the new Pathfinder? Im considering that but no one has mentioned Nissan!

had a 1992 jeep cherokee in the US used by the family which did over 300,000 miles!!! engine and gearbox was built like a brick. the ac did give a few minor problems.

Ive just arrived in Dubai for a few years working in the sun and I havent got a bloody clue what to get car-wise! I fancy a 4x4 for camping etc when its cooler and for general protection from the nutters on the road. So............what should I get?? My budget is around AED 100k, but I suspect I'll end up spending more because I usually never stick to a budget! :)

Craigo are you after 2nd hand or brand new? Second hand at 100K can get you maybe a pajero, grand cherokee, landcruiser, landrovers about 2-5 years old. Brand new you would be looking at the SWB pajero or Prado. Full size Prado's & Pajero's are around 140k. I would say they are the best for 4WD, comfort, value and resale.

personally i have a Jeep G. Cherokee but............ if you want serious desert playtime then there is only 1 choice Toyota Landcruiser closely followed by Nissan Patrol all the others are ok though, its just that all the tours use toyota and they are genenerally accepted as the one to have for serious stuff. Range rovers are ok, but the Air suspension is not up to the job when seriously bashing around the Dunes. Hope this helps

I'm looking for a previous-gen JGC. I'm just hoping the Austrian-built GCC ones have much fewer problems than the pathetic American-built ones (which now seriously outnumber GCC ones thanks to Awir and Sharjah).
