my licence place expires this month 11/07 Is there a "grace period" as i arrive the first week December, and need to use my car for a few days until i have time to have it tested in the second week of Dec
fayz
you'll be fine, they give 1 month grace so try to get it done before the new year.

phew thanks, i will get in done on this trip but didnt want to do it soon as i landed and theres a fair bit going on in early DEC

PS: you have a fine of 10aed for every month after the grace period until your car is registered. ** I did hear in while that its increased to aed 60 or 80 (not sure)

Weirdly enough, I read (on their website I think) that the grace is 45 days. On top of that, we bought a car with 6 months expired tags, but they didn't charge anything. Every rule is a bendable here.

Exjactly !
Update: Someone i know just told me they are urging you to get a salik tag installed during the registration process. ( if not already done so )

I just bought another used car that had no plates. They didn't make me buy Salik, but I bought it anyway at the desk they had right next to the desk where you get plates.

I'll second what GT says my roomie just bought a car, plates were expired for about 1 year and no salik and both weren't an issue.
