| Hi there! Anybody got any ideas about the best webpage providers?! Whats a good one without any pop up ads etc? I want to set up a webpage, but Im rubbish at 'puter stuff! Thanks! :cat: |

| Sheikha are you a DSL/Cable user. I think you get webspace from Etisalat/DIC that you can use for your site. If not, i would recommend www.lunarpages.com for hosting. |

From lunarpages for $6.95 per month ...
That's a lot and indicates overselling (a bad thing many people would say). Mixed reports at www.webhostingtalk.com which I've found a useful source of information. If you've not hosted a website before and you feel like you're "rubbish at 'puter stuff" I'd suggest you go with something like geocities (yahoo now?) for a free website just to get started and familiar with it all. But move on to a paid for hosting provider like lunarpages as soon as you can - it's much better. Don't have your domain name and hosting service with the same company. |

| cool thanks for the tips....... Ill have a look on these sites! Fanks! :cat: |

| DaveDXB, $49 for a dedicated server? Not bad. But hardly appropriate for someone who just has admitted to being inexperienced in the use of computers. Suggesting a link like that indicates to me that you have a reading and/or comprehension problem. Or maybe you're just spamming or trolling (or both)? If they do offer shared servers, they should make it more obvious. |

| It all depends on your website size and the traffic that you expect it to generate. For something small and personal you can use geocities or google which is free. Be careful of providers who claim to offer unlimited space and bandwidth. |

| You could always try OfficeLive http://officelive.microsoft.com/ |

Word document is not in HTML format unless you save it that way. HTML means HyperText Markup Language . Read up on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Html |

If you don't know what HTML is then set up a blog to start learning about websites. www.blogger.com is a good place to start, and you'll learn as you go. Something to keep in mind is to assume that whatever you put up there will remain on the internet permanently, somewhere, even if you think you've deleted it.
True, but not a good idea to make your web pages that way. |

oh my god ..........no recently i have lost my complete template in blogger after working for 7 hrs.......for soem weird reson and when i wen tot help section i saw it did happen to many bloggers some even permanently lost their posts! that's the reason ppl switched to wordpress and other blog soft |
| sharewadi |
Ouch :!: Which is usually when people learn the usefulness of getting their own website and setting up something like wordpress so you can back it up. Although I thought I read somewhere you can do backups from blogger? It sounded complicated so I didn't bother trying to find out more. |
