but defaults anyway in australia you can go from google.com.au to google.com w/o dramas-- any reason why this isn't the case here in dubai?

If your internet cache is clear and you enter www.google.com, it will default to www.google.ae as set by etisalat. However, once you're at google.ae, you can click on ENGLISH and it will taker you to www.google.com After that, as long as your cache is not cleared, it will show up as www.google.com everytime you open IE.

Alternatively, If you want to set google.com as your home page, you can put this link as your default homepage in IE Options: http://www.google.com/ncr this by default will take you to google.COM if set to the homepage Cheers

Google sends a 302 redirect based on your IP address and there is no way round this apart from setting a homepage. [code:1]HTTP/1.x 302 Found Proxy-Connection: Keep-Alive Connection: Keep-Alive Location: http://www.google.ae/[/code:1] This is a pain in the azz for me as I use firefoxs 'search selected text in google' right click context menu.[/code]
