| I work for a multinational and recently posted to Dubai. I came on a visit visa and at that time was able to rent a car easily with my international driving license. I have now received my residence permit, however the rental companies are now not allowing me to rent a car as I need a UAE drivers license. I have also been advised that my nationality dis-allows me to get a UAE license directly and I would need to go through driving school/test. Also, seems that this process could take anywhere between 1 to 3 months! I cant even buy a car in the meantime!
How does everybody else in a similar situation get by?? Im assuming there must be others in a similar predicament. Its almost impossible to get taxis in Bur Dubai where our offices are and Im totally frustrated! Is there anything I can do ?? |
