Dyno shops

Soz dude, din make it home til late last nite so no motivation to get back infront of a screen.
XRW-147
The latter. The 'B' is sacraligious to the Porsche family. I guessed ur's was as soon as you mentioned Al Naboodah.

Anyone knows where one could find a GOOD dyno shop? Not something stupid that gives flywheel power, but whp (wheel horse power), perferrably with a widband AFR readout. So far, Al Naboodah has one, but without a wideband read out....
XRW-147
Any roller dyno gives you ATW kw/hp. An engine dyno will only be able to give a calculated ATW figure. And any 'tuning' shop tinkering with a tune without using a wideband might as well get set for a rebuild.

Looks like we speak the same language..... I have an Innovative wideband installed in my car, i have a piggyback/fuel controller and dialed in a nice AFR. Thing is, i want to know how much i got there on the wheels...... Comparing two AFR charts would be nice (one installed on the car and one on the dyno).
XRW-147
Ah, so basically after a power run. I know of a shop but it's in Sharjah. You need 2w or 4w dyno? Are you comparing the charts to verify accuracy/consistency? If so you'd need similar spec wideband attached to the dyno to get apples - apples results.
hosrom_951
At the moment, i am looking for a power run, it is a 2wd dyno run as well. But if their prices/per hour is good, then i would always use them when i start upgrading the turbocharger, intake, bigger injectors etc.... Then i get into timing....that is where i need the dyno run(s)
XRW-147
I'll get the details when I'm home and email to ya mate.
hosrom_951
Thanks.... By the way, i like you're Porsche. Is it a Boxster or 911? Note: My car is a Porsche as well....a 1986 944 Turbo that just blasts away with fury :D
hosrom_951
LOL..... Yeah, i was tipped off by the Audi center since i was picking up a seal (interchangable parts between VW/Audi and Porsche). They don't have a clue what i wide band is....and say everything is 'at the owners risk'. When he saw the gauges in my car, he called me a ricer. I then informed him that by having a 20 year old car, that can out-perform new M3's, Corvettes etc needs constant care and attention. You can never have enough monitoring equippment in a car, better to keep an eye on things as wait for disaster to happen.

Stackdash is ur friend.
hosrom_951
Anything new? Did you get the contacts?
Dennis
The best Dyno test you can get is from rotor test type, that you dont get the wheel spinn.
XRW-147
You mean a hub dyno right? Don't know what you would want to measure from rotors...
Dennis
Yes you bult on this so you reduce the slip.

XRW-147
Actually, the idea of a hub dyno is to reduce frictional loss, not "slip". By eliminating all the variable factors associated with your typical roller dyno (tyre type, air pressure, diameter, etc, etc) you are able to produce consistent (comparably measurable) power/torque readings.
Dennis
We have some problem with cars spinn the tyers on regular dynos But one off the best regular dyno i have tray is Dyno Dynamics
XRW-147
D, you might want to try strapping the cars down better - although this will give a reduced reading. Agree with you that DD dyno is by far one of the best roller dynos on the market. Bosch and the like are alright for tuning purposes but garbage if you ever want a consistent result out of it. Best hub dyno would by far be Dynapac.
Dennis
We have strappdown the car down good, but we have 900 hp or more on some street cars. So are that some good performance shops in Dubai?
XRW-147
I'd suggest getting the dyno serviced then. I've seen 900+hp supras and 1000+hp commodores take to a roller dyno with no problem at all. I know there are some good ones around judging by some of the fine machines I've seen at the drag strip (mind you most are from other parts of the emirates) but I can't say much off first hand experience atm about Dubai performance shops mate. My experience is mostly from Australia, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Later this year once I start bringing some toys in I hope to get more hands on action in the motorsport scene.
Dennis
I import performance parts like dumpvalves westgates intercooler carbonefiber seats. fuel regulator, and more things fore good price. I start to look fore a new market bekures i have work in USA Brazil Sweden, build engines and update import cars
Dennis
/Users/admin/Desktop/HKS STYLE.JPG I hopes this works
XRW-147
I think u need to upload ur pics dude.
Dennis
Yes i made some wrong, i have intercooler kit fore WRX Evo hks styl supercharger kit fore Audi A4/A6 V6 engines, and later fore the V8, and fore porsche chayene S
DFSL
talk to a guy called Mick Stanic from SUB-ZERO performance, he moved from australia to dubai and was VERY WELL KNOWN for building very tuff and very fast skylines/supras here in australia...he had a few customers cars that were pulling 8/9 secs down the quarter mile... Mohammed...
