I am planning to bring my laptop with me and i was wondering if there are any hotspots around Dubai which are decently priced. I will b staying with friends but they do not have net access hence i will need to use my laptop to send resumes etc. Any advice on that? Or any phone cards that i can connect through to the net? What are my options in terms of mobile pre paid cards?

You don't have a choice for phone cards, Wasel by Etisalat is your only prepaid choice. For Hotspots, look here. http://ecompany.ae/eco/isp/english/services/izone/location_dxb.html

Thanks a ton!!. Wow i do have a lot of choices. About the mobile cards ...how is the service and how expensive that is? Is it true that local calls are free?

Service is OK, but it depends on your area. 25 and 40 AED denominations. Incoming calls are free regardless of origin. Outgoing are charged. |

Well sounds good. I heard that if u are in Dubai and you call someone in Dubai is free but if you call in Abhu Dhabi for example then you will b charged. I guess its just people making up story. Thanks for clearing this for me.

I think you heard about fixed line calls, not mobile to mobile.
