Gmail offer free POP3 connections. The pachage Etisalat or Du use for Internet browsing and checking email is called "Data Package" You can subscribe for the package by dialling 142 from your phone. Then you can select various package type of "Data Package" I like "Pay as you go" So basically it has no monthly rent charges. You just pay as you use. GPRS internet settings for phone is. APN: etisalat.ae username: blank pass: blank and all the rest blank

How to retrieve email via mobile phone? I did have yahoo go in UK but it doesn't seem to work here! do I need a different Email provider?

Free Yahoo accounts don't normally offer free POP/IMAP access. It if worked before in the UK on your handset then just make sure that you have the following: - Correct POP/IMAP server address for Yahoo (Same as you used for the UK) - Correct SMTP server address for Yahoo (Same as you used for the UK) - Contact Etisalat or Du and make sure you are provisioned for the the Internet APN (note: not that WAP APN) - Make sure you have the Internet APN setup on the handset - Point the email settings to use this Internet APN This should work. If you still have problems - let me know the network you are on and which handset you have.

As I said I did have yahoo go but ditched the phone before I came to Dubai for a cheap unlocked phone. I have kept my yahoo addy but am now on etisalat network and using a motorola KAZR Was thinking of shifting to Gmail maybe at least for sms alerts?

I'm not too clued up on Yahoo Go - but at first glance it looks to be an application that is installed on your handset. If you want just email access then just use the email client on the handset. If your Yahoo Go does not support this then just register for a Gmail account and set this up on your handset.

if your address is yahoo.co.uk you can still use it since those addresses offer free pop/imap. However yahoo.com addresses dont.

No need to setup manually. This will send the mailbox settings and the Internet APN.
