| Are there any issues if I'll purchase a car from say Abu Dhabi and want to drive it in Dubai?
Is it considered "importing" as well or do I just need to register the car to my name and get it inspected and I'm good to go?
Thanks so much - again :) |

| ur good to go...but i think u have to register it on the name where ur residency is...
so if ur a resident of abu dhabi
u can only register it there...
Not 100% though |

| New rule is register where your visa/license is from.
A few years ago, by fluke, I managed to get a 10-year Dubai license from a Sharjah visa (but I live in Dubai), so my car is Dubai reg. But this won't work any more apparently. |

OK so if I understood this correctly:
a) I can buy a vehicle from another emirate
b) It is not considered "importing" and thus I don't have to pay any duty
c) I can register the vehicle to my name ONLY in the emirate that I have residence.
Did I comprehend it correctly? |

IF the car is Abu Dhabi reg, you have to cancel that and get "import" plates (valid for a few days) from the cops in Abu Dhabi so you can drive it to Dubai. Or you get it towed to Dubai after you get rid of the Abu Dhabi plates. I drove from Sharjah to Dubai without any plates, but I live on the edge and got lucky I wasn't pulled over. There is a fine if you get caught.

You can register it on your license, wherever that is from. I have a Sharjah visa and Dubai license, so my car is Dubai registered. So indirectly you are correct.
